Olympic Gold navel orange

Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck

CRC 4209

VI 626 (No longer available)

Photos by David Karp and Toni Siebert, CVC.  Photo rights.

Source: Received as budwood from Brokaw's nursery, 2009, via CCPP.

Parentage/origins: Parents unknown. Not too much is known about this navel orange. It was originally imported through CCPP as a contract or proprietary cleanup.

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange

Season of ripeness at Riverside: December to February

Notes and observations:

This accession was considered proprietary until 2008. In August 2008, Tracy Kahn contacted Ellen Brokaw who contacted the widow of Dan Sheehan who licensed Brokaw's nursery in 1996 to handle the Olympic Gold. Larry Rose then informed Tracy Kahn that there was no patent on the variety and we have permission to plant it. We do not have fruit quality information at this time.

Availability: No longer commercially available in California. This accession no longer has an approved budsource. Please refer to the CCPP for information on another approved budsource or to start a reintroduction inquiry.
